Chris Tormey RN | Director of Clinical Operations

Mr. Tormey oversees all surgery center operations. He is responsible for achieving and maintaining Medicare and AAAHC certifications, as well as implementing new specialties. Prior to becoming the Director of Clinical Services, Mr. Tormey served in positions as Director of Nursing and Administrator at a Bay Area surgery center, and previously worked in the mortgage industry. Mr. Tormey studied business at California State University Northridge, and holds a nursing degree through Ventura College School of Nursing. He and his wife volunteer with Operation Rainbow, a humanitarian organization which performs surgeries in impoverished regions of the world.

Kara Maiko, RN  | Director of Nursing & Clinical Services

Ms. Maiko oversees all nursing and administrative staff as well as supervises the care of all patients at Pacific Heights Surgery Center. Ms. Maiko received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Trinity Western University and following her graduation proceeded to work in Critical Care at various California based hospitals. In 2007 she began her career at Pacific Heights Surgery Center and during her time at the center, she completed her Master in Science from the University of San Francisco with a focus in Clinical Nurse Leadership.  In 2011, PHSC obtained CMS recertification that auditors described as the “Gold Standard” of the industry.  Her passion for providing excellent patient care extends from the local community to the global community.  Ms. Maiko is actively involved with Operation Rainbow, a humanitarian organization which performs surgeries in impoverished regions of the world.

Ailish Tasker | Office Manager

Ms. Tasker oversees the daily operations of the front desk and collaborates with schedulers to ensure a positive work-flow at Pacific Heights Surgery Center. Ms. Tasker received her undergraduate degree from UC Santa Barbara in 2001, acquired a multiple subject teaching credential and proceeded to teach for three years.  In 2008 Ms. Tasker relocated to the Bay Area and transitioned into her career in administration. Her experience at Pacific Heights Surgery Center has fostered a passion for the medical field and she plans to return to school to obtain her nursing degree.
